Fidelis Roy, the patron of the college was born in South Western city of Germany in October 1578 in a noble family. His father was the Mayor of the city.
Fidelis as a young lad was very brilliant and had stupendous memory power and was awarded doctorate in Philosophy and Letters in 1601 at the age of 23 from the University of Freiberg, Germany. Later he also studies law and received a doctorate in civil and church law. He was soon in great demand because of his abilities. He became the voice of the voiceless, the poor and those met with injustice.
God also had a better plan for him and was calling him to a higher, more challenging, hard and dedicated life in the service of humanity and in doing so he died a martyr’s death living and remaining faithful to his calling, on 24th April, 1622.
As per church tradition he was declared Saint (holy man) by Pope Benedict XIV in 1746. As Fidelians we have to imbibe the spirit of St. Fidelis and so our work and duties in all sincerity, honesty and always serve the people in need.
Dearest Saint Fidelis College
Love you as a family
Compassion, love, goodness, friendship
Good morals we learn from Thee
Lifting downtrodden and helpless
Always help the poor in need
Give us courage, give us wisdom
Honest in our word and deed
Grateful to you dear Fidelis
As you teach and show the way
For building a good character
And to face life day to day
Different languages and subjects
Teachers teach us faithfully
Games we play for recreation
Running, jumping joyfully
When we leave this college someday
With all blessings from above
Truth and service lead us onward
With a heart so full of love
May god bless our teachers, students
Parents, guardians, friends and foe
Bond of fellowship among us
Every day may grow and grow
